About Us
Muziris Bazaar is a community marketplace inspired by the legacy of the ancient Muziris port, India's first ever emporium. Rooted in the historic neighbourhoods of Fort Kochi and Mattancherry, it brings together local craft, culture, and commerce in a space that celebrates the region’s rich heritage.
We strive to make the work of local artisans and community makers visible, valued, and accessible. The women who stitch our tote bags, the weavers whose hands move across the handlooms, the chefs who carry generations of local culinary knowledge, the storytellers who are familiar with every nook and corner of Fort Kochi — these are the people behind everything you find here.
Muziris Bazaar is not a factory. Nothing here is mass-produced.
Every product is made by hand, by someone from this community.
When you buy from us, you are not buying from a brand; you are buying directly from the maker.
Our Community
Fort Kochi and Mattancherry have always been places where communities meet. Fishermen, weavers, spice traders, artists, and families who have lived here for generations: they make up the living heritage of this place.
Many of them have extraordinary skills and make extraordinary things.
And yet, most of the world has never heard of them.
Muziris Bazaar aims to bridge this gap by bringing local artisans and their work online. By connecting makers with people who value authenticity and craftsmanship, we seek to build a space that genuinely improves lives — not as charity, but as 'commerce with dignity'.
We Promise
Everything sold on Muziris Bazaar is handmade by local community members. Every experience is led by someone who lives and breathes this place. If for any reason you are not happy, whether it be a product or a programme, we will refund you completely, with no questions asked.
We are just getting started. More makers, more products, and more experiences are on the way.
Thank you for being here early!
